From Law to ABA Therapy

Before founding XYZ ABA, Lauren Duek practiced law in midtown Manhattan and spent eight years at Thomson Reuters after earning her law degree from Fordham University School of Law.

Although she valued her legal career, Lauren's passion was working with children with special needs. She decided to follow that passion, bringing her analytical thinking and problem-solving skills into her work as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

A Meaningful Start in Africa

Lauren's journey into working with children began in Africa, where she volunteered at a preschool in a local township and supported children in community libraries and safe houses.

This experience strengthened her passion for helping children with special needs and inspired her to pursue a career in child development and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Professional Experience in ABA Therapy

After returning from Africa, Lauren worked at a pediatric therapy center in Manhattan, advancing from Behavior Therapist to Lead Behavior Therapist. She developed behavior plans, supervised therapists, and helped lead a classroom.

In New Jersey, Lauren worked as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), advising schools on behavioral strategies, providing in-home ABA therapy, supervising therapists, and training parents. Today, she brings this experience to XYZ ABA, supporting children with autism throughout Union County, NJ.

Education & Credentials

Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Binghamton University and her Juris Doctor (JD) from Fordham University School of Law. She practiced law in Manhattan and spent eight years at Thomson Reuters before pursuing her passion for working with children.

She later earned her Master's degree in Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Her background in law, psychology, and ABA provides a unique foundation for her work as Founder and Clinical Director of XYZ ABA.

Beyond the Clinic

Originally from Queens, New York, Lauren grew up on Long Island in a family that valued education and helping others. With a father who is a doctor and a mother who is a teacher, those values helped shape her career.

Today, Lauren lives in Westfield, New Jersey, with her family. As both a mother and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), she understands the importance of supporting children and the families who care for them.
